'Shimmer'

‘Shimmer’ is all about the sensation of being in my flower garden in summer. I primarily think of myself as an expressionist artist and I wanted to express the feeling of the heat, the movement, and the colour hit that I get from the garden when the sun is at its brightest. The colours overlap and blur into one another the way petals and light do when the air is shimmering with warmth. My intention is that up close the brushstrokes look like random abstract marks and shapes in a multitude of vivid hues, but when you step back, they combine to create a more impressionistic feel to suggest flowers and the lushness of the scene.
